In order to install a McAfee product you must first uncompress
(unzip) the Disks.zip file that you downloaded from the McAfee BBS.
Uncompressing(unzipping) this file will result in the creation
of a number of diskette sized subdirectories called Disk1, Disk2,
Disk3, etc. If you wish to install your McAfee product from
diskettes, you can easily copy the contents of each subdirectory
to a diskette.
All McAfee products are easy to install using the setup.exe file
that is located in the subdirectory Disk1 or on diskette number 1
if you are installing from diskettes. You must run the setup.exe
program to install McAfee products. The program files are compressed
and if you simply copy the files from the subdirectories or diskettes
there is the chance that important setup procedures may be bypassed
which will cause unpredictable results.
You will need to use the Windows file manager or file run feature
to execute the setup.exe program. You can do this by changing the
current directory to the location of the Disk1 subdirectory or to
the diskette drive that contains diskette number 1 and double
clicking on setup.exe.
From this point on you will be prompted by the software to complete
the install. The complete installation procedure is documented
in the doc.zip file which you downloaded from the McAfee BBS.
It will be necessary to unzip this file to make it readable.
After you have successfully loaded the product there is a readme.txt
file available which contains important information not included in
the doc.zip file.
